Whenever the list of the greatest songwriting teams of all time is argued or debated, the name of one such duo is never omitted. Having spent the past 60 years or so penning hits for the likes of Bing Crosby, Nat "King" Cole, Sarah Vaughan, Andy Williams, Henry Mancini, Rosemary Clooney, Bob Hope, Johnny Mathis, Debbie Reynolds, Doris Day, Mel Torme, Peggy Lee... and countless others, this songwriting tandem has stood the test of time, time and time again. Their songs (often written on assignmnet as title songs for motion pictures of TV series) have become instantly recognizable to generation after generation of music lovers worldwide. Who hasn't heard "Silver Bells"? Not to mention other classics, such as "Mona Lisa", "Tammy", "Que Sera, Sera", "Buttons And Bows", and the theme songs from several hit TV series, including "Mister Ed", "Bonanza", and the lyrics to the themes from "Peter Gunn" and "Mr. Lucky".

No strangers to the Top Ten List, their 1941 composition "G'Bye Now", stayed in the Top Ten for 5 weeks, reaching #7. In 1956, their classic "Whatever Will Be, Will Be (Que Sera, Sera)" reached the Top Ten for 14 weeks and was #1 for 4 weeks. Then, in 1957, another of their gems, "Tammy", stayed in the Top Ten for 15 weeks and held the #1 spot for 10 weeks. Another favorite, "As I Love You", wen #1 in the UK.

Academy Awards? Three of them, starting with "Buttons And Bows" (from The Paleface in 1948), followed by "Mona Lisa" (from Captain Carey, USA in 1950) and finally "Whatever Will Be, Will Be (Que Sera, Sera)" from the Alfred Hitchcock classic The Man Who Knew Too Much in 1956. Besides their efforts as Songwriters On Assignment at Paramount Pictures for some 10 years, Livingston & Evans also found time to write complete librettos for 2 Broadway shows: Oh, Captain! (1958), starring Jose Ferrer, Rosemary Clooney and Tony Randall, and Let It Ride! (1961), starring George Gobel and Barbara Nichols.
